Music with a purpose

God made everything. God made the world. That means God made music. 

So what’s the point of secular music?  I just don’t get it.  Why do people make music? It’s an emotional release right? It’s a chance to write about life and life’s struggles right? God invented life. So in my opinion the only music that means anything is music that is made for Jesus. That’s what i think.

I need to rely on my Bible like i rely on my cell phone. I really want to do that. But the devil has no problem with texting. He doesn’t like us reading that Word though. 

So i’m gonna stomp the devil out. With the Word.

A Prayer for Anointing

Lord I pray that You anoint me to sing of Your Glory. To help spread Your Word! To do the Works You want me to do! I need that fresh anointing. I need it at shows and during our songs! I need to feel the Spirit at shows, at practice, even when listening to our music. Lord i feel i failed You. I feel like I haven’t done it right. I feel like this is not how it’s supposed to be. I want my vocals to impact people, impact lives, but not because of what I say, but because of what Jesus has to say.  I just jot down thoughts and scream. I can’t change lives, I can’t solve your life’s problems. All i can do is pray for people. Only Jesus can change people. 

If you all could pray for me that would be greatly appreciated

Recap of Recording: Day 2

Hey guys, nathan here.  So yesterday (Thursday July 3, 2008) we tracked vocals and finished up on guitar #1.  On saturday we are going to finish vocals on 1 more song and then get guitar #2 done. Kevin is guitar #2 for all those who are wondering. Stuff is sounding pretty good. We’re looking forward to releasing this sucker and finally getting recordings up on myspace so ppl can check them out. We haven’t determined a release date yet but it should be sometime in august. Anyway, our next few shows of the summer will be a big final push before we all go back to school for the semester. Shows will pop up from time to time during the semester but it won’t be as frequent as summer time. But the good thing is that while you won’t be able to come to shows much during the school year we’ll give you a good record to listen to. We’ve had fun doing it so far. Wednesday was probably my most stressful and frustrating day cuz I tracked vocals and messed up several times. so that sucked. But with the Lord i got it done right. Keep us in your prayers and see ya on the flipside!

Also we just booked a HUGE show on August 10  ( Click here for venue! ) with A Plea for Purging  The Handshake Murders Hester Prynne and theboyinthesnakepit. it’s gonna be intense! come out and have fun. Mark it on your calendar!

Recap of Recording: Day 1

It was fun. We got drums and bass done today. We got alot of guitar done today too!  We should be finished tracking by saturday!  Woohoo!  We will probably finish tracking guitar 1 Thursday and then we’ll start tracking vocals also. Pray for us!

Recording Day 1

It’s fun so far. It started out a bit rough but then we got into a groove and now drums are COMPLETELY DONE!!!  Now we are recording bass and lil roberto is flying through recordings! He’s doing great. We are shooting for 7 songs but there maybe an 8th song on the album (a secret song). God is really providing for us. Chris Hess has done a great job and we’re really glad we hired him. So we’re having fun today. I’ll probably post one more blog today recapping the day of recording.

Sweet summer baby

I just booked 2 of the HUGEST I’ve ever booked in my entire life. On July 23 we are playing with Oceana and August 19 with Keep and Confess!  It’s gonna be huge! It’s at Cactus Jack’s (in Lifequest church) and I’m so pumped! God provides!

Work Blog-July 1

I worked from 8:45a-2:45p today. I’m so glad Valerie took my 6:45a-8:45a it was nice to get to sleep in for a few hours more.  Work seems fun sometimes. I tend to enjoy myself at work cuz I crack jokes with everyone. I feel like i’m a part of “the group.”  Like i’m one of the cool people at work. This is nice. 

Also I was going to start this blog for monday june 30 but I went to bed instead of posting. So here’s what I was going to post for my June 30 blog:  ”This morning I spent a big chunk of time trying to figure out how to spell Myeesha. It was a tough one. She was okay. I forgot what she wanted but her name really threw me off.”
